Important note for Virginia & Florida families

I am currently at capacity for new clients using most insurance networks in Virginia and Florida. However, I am accepting a limited number of private-pay clients in both states.

If I participate with your insurance plan (through Headway), you may still choose to pay privately rather than use your insurance benefits. Before beginning services, you will be asked to sign an acknowledgement confirming that:

  • You are choosing not to use your insurance for these services.

  • No claims will be submitted to your insurance plan.

  • You are responsible for the full cost of each service.

  • You cannot submit these services to your plan for out-of-network reimbursement.

This option is not available to clients enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid.

Payment is due at the time of service. Payments are securely processed through Stripe. I accept major credit and debit cards, as well as eligible HSA and FSA cards.

Payment Methods

1

If I am not in network with your insurance plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your plan’s out-of-network benefits.

At your request, I can provide a superbill—an itemized receipt containing the information your insurance company may require when reviewing a reimbursement claim. You submit the superbill directly to your insurance company. If the claim is approved, your insurer will reimburse you according to the terms of your plan.

Payment is due in full at the time of service. A superbill does not guarantee reimbursement, and I am unable to determine in advance whether your insurance company will cover any portion of your services.

Out-of-Network Benefits

2

  • Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services?

  • Are services provided by a licensed clinical psychologist with a PhD eligible for reimbursement?

  • Do I need to meet an out-of-network deductible before reimbursement begins?

  • What percentage of the fee will my plan reimburse?

  • Is reimbursement based on the full fee or on the plan’s allowed amount?

  • Is there a limit on the number of sessions covered?

  • Do I need prior authorization or a referral?

  • Are telehealth sessions eligible for out-of-network reimbursement?

  • How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

Important Information About Superbills

4

Insurance companies generally require a mental health diagnosis to process a superbill. This means your diagnosis will become part of the claim submitted to your insurer.

Choosing self-pay without submitting a superbill allows your care to remain outside the insurance reimbursement process. Some clients prefer this option for greater privacy or because they do not want insurance requirements to influence their care.

You are responsible for confirming your benefits, submitting claims, and communicating with your insurance company. Any reimbursement arrangement is between you and your insurer.
